Women's Development Cell
Daulat Ram College
ABOUT US
Pragati, the Women's Development Cell of Daulat Ram College is a student’s collective with a passion for gender equality and feminism. It is a safe space where we aim to learn and unlearn by initiating conversations on everything from the pressing social issues to everyday incidents from a women’s lens. We firmly believe in making women empowered in terms of self-esteem, personality and character, and provide a platform for students to explore and develop themselves as aware, independent individuals.
Pragati aims to generate awareness and educate students on women rights, status, health and empowerment. The activities of the centre includes seminars, workshops, lectures, debates, essay writing and poster making contests, field trips, film making, film screenings, street plays, graffiti, pledge walks etc. We also aim to educate and sensitize people through our blog and social media platforms, where we talk about everyday issues from a feminist lens, voice our opinion and initiate and carry forward a dialogue on politics, awareness and empowerment. We also publish a yearly bilingual magazine 'Shreshtha', a platform for students of DRC to give an expression to their thoughts and ideas on but not limited to women empowerment. Through these activities and initiatives, Pragati echoes our commitment to empower women of 21st century and to sensitise the youth about the same.
